Personal Growth

What’s Involved?

Personal Growth Sessions offer a reflective and experiential space to explore the conflicts, patterns, and emerging possibilities shaping your life. We may work with thoughts, emotions, relationships, and important life experiences, while also attending to material that is less immediately conscious.

Drawing on my Processwork training, I can help you explore bodily sensations, movement, subtle signals, nighttime dreams, recurring images, and other experiences that may contain meaningful information. Rather than imposing an interpretation, we approach this material collaboratively—following your experience and discovering what feels relevant to your life.

All sessions are offered virtually.

"I am grateful for how James approaches our sessions with such kindness, curiosity, and sincerity. He is present and creates a safe space for exploring complex topics. James has been invaluable for me in beginning to understand my self and how I relate to my work in particular."

Teresa L.

“James has been instrumental in helping me look at myself and my growth in different perspectives. I truly feel like the work we’ve done has allowed me to become the person I’ve always tried to be. I’ve had to do homework from time to time but it’s always paid off.”

Jarrett

“James brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our one-on-one sessions. But more importantly, he demonstrates an extraordinary amount of curiosity and support that have really helped me grow my understanding of how I confront systems while being kind to individuals."

Want to Learn More?

If you’ve taken time to consider working with me carefully, and you’d like to learn more, I’d like to invite you to schedule a free consultation (up to 30 minutes). I’ll ask you why you’ve come and what you think I can help you with. Please prepare your thoughts before coming. It will help us both get the most out of our time together.

There will be no sales pitch. The goals are to a) help you as much as I can within our time, and b) help us both decide if we’d like to work together. I’ll send you a follow-up email when the session is over, and we can determine if we’d like to move forward from there.

Is This Therapy?

In the broad field of human healing, growth, and transformation, many kinds of practitioners offer support—including therapists, counselors, coaches, awareness facilitators, energy workers, meditation teachers, and spiritual practitioners. Each works from a different framework, with a different scope of practice.

I am not a licensed therapist, and I do not provide psychotherapy or mental-health treatment. I do not diagnose mental-health conditions, create clinical treatment plans, or accept health insurance. I am therefore not the appropriate practitioner for someone seeking diagnosis, clinical treatment, crisis support, or specialized care for a significant or ongoing mental-health condition.

I help people become more aware of—and work creatively with—the inner and relational dynamics that may limit their ability to live according to their values. This can include exploring emotions, recurring patterns, embodied experiences, relationship dynamics, dreams, and aspects of experience that may initially be outside conscious awareness. We approach this material carefully, collaboratively, and with informed consent.

Although I am not licensed as a therapist, I have completed—and continue to undertake—years of intensive training in facilitating human and relational dynamics. I have also worked as a counselor in a community-clinic setting. I follow the ethical guidelines of the Processwork Institute, practice within the limits of my training and competence, and receive ongoing supervision from experienced licensed and non-licensed practitioners.

I also maintain relationships with licensed therapists and other professionals to whom I can refer clients when their needs require clinical care or fall outside my scope of practice. If I believe another kind of support would be more appropriate, I will discuss that with you openly.
